Gen Tumukunde Summoned by CID Over Meeting With UPDF Veterans

Presidential hopeful rtd. Gen Henry Tumukunde has on Wednesday been summoned by the Police Criminal  Investigations Department (CID) over allegedly holding covert meetings with veteran Uganda People’s Defense Forces officers.

The summon was issued by Grace Akullo

“The directorate is investigating allegations to the effect that on a number of occasions at your office and residence both in Kololo and other locations within the country, you have held meetings with Army Veterans discussing issues related to politics,” reads part of the summons

According to police Tumukunde’s actions, if found accurate, contravenes sections of the 1995 constitution and the UPDF Act.

“Persuant to section 27A of the police Act as ammended, you are summoned to appear at CID headquarters on the 19th August 2020.” Akullo said.

Tumukunde was on Tuesday held briefly by the police while he was holding a consultative meeting in Njeru, Buikwe District.
