Lwemiyaga County MP, Theodore Ssekikubo is not yet out of the eye of the police as he was re-arrested by Masaka Police yesterday where he spent the night after he was found hiding in his bathroom in Lwemiyaga.
This arrest came barely days after he had been released on a 10m non cash bond after he was charged with six counts of illegal possession of a firearm, threatening violence, destruction of property and inciting violence in 2010.
According to Jude Mbabaali, the Masaka LCV chairman, Ssekikubo was forced onto the police vehicle barefooted despite pleas to be allowed to put on shoes.
“Our application to give him police bond was flatly rejected with no reason. He is being falsely accused of inciting Lwemiyaga residents against the illegal cattle quarantine,” Mbabaali said.
Ssekikubo was first arrested last week by police following a bitter standoff between him and Sembabule district security authorities, whom he accused of enforcing an unjustifiable quarantine on the sub-counties of Lwemiyaga and Ntuusi despite them being free from Foot and Mouth Disease.
He will be aligned before court today.
Lwemiyaga County Member of Parliament Theodore Ssekikubo was re-arrested by Masaka Police yesterday and could be charged in the Masaka Chief Magistrate’s Court today.
Speaking to police spokesperson of greater Masaka Paul Kangave on phone confirmed the rearrest of the legislator. He said he has been re-apprehended because he has a file with police in Masaka that they have been investigating.
“And this file when we took to the state they were sanctioned. We arrested him because we are going to arraign him before court so that he can listen and answer the allegation of the file that we have been investigating,” he said.
He added: “We have a case of inciting violence and these were committed this year, this month on 3rd and 10th of this year.”

On Monday, the legislator who had spent over three days in police custody was arraigned before the Masaka Chief Magistrate, Deo Ssejemba and charged with six counts of illegal possession of a firearm, threatening violence, destruction of property and inciting violence.
He was granted a non cash bail of 10 million shillings.
