On arrival at the venue of the NRM function presided over by Secretary-General Justine Kasule Lumumba, Dixon Kagurusi an NRM diehard was welcomed by hundreds of youths amidst shouts, chants, throngs and ululations that left everyone nodding in approval that the NRM flag for Kinkizi west constituency must change hands from Ruugi James Kaberuka whom the President described as “a controversial small man” during his presidential visit to Kanungu to a proved and tested NRM diehard.

Ever since the incumbent MP James Kaberuka opposed the 102(b) amendment in the constitution against the NRM party position, he was declared an outcast in the NRM party activities both at home and in Kampala, isolated and shunned by the NRM fraternity who are the majority voters in Kanungu district.

Kanungu district home to the former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Amama Mbabazi is an NRM territory wherein any case no other candidate other than NRM has ever made it to parliament since Uganda embraced multi-party politics.

The heroic welcome accorded to Dixon Kagurusi by the young people who currently constitute 70% of the voters in the constituency left the incumbent MP Ruugi James Kaberuka irate, steaming and fuming to the extent of describing the NRM SG Kasule Lumumba as “a stupid woman” during his speech as Teachers’ celebrated their day at Kihihi primary school which lies in the precincts of Kihihi high-school, the venue where the NRM Secretary-General and Minister Dr. Chris Baryomunsi were meeting with crowds of NRM leaders and the general public.
