Police Intercepts Mob Justice Against Homosexuals in Kitende

 

 

Police in Kitende is investigating acts of mob justice acts involving a Ministry of Energy employee who was saved from angry residents.

Mubiru Derrick and another man identified as Mutebi Ronald are nursing gruesome wounds following the attack from locals that accused the duo for indulging in sodomy, an act contrary the law.

According to eye witnesses, the angry locals wanted to kill and later burn the due as away of discouraging other boys in the area from indulging in the same acts.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango, confirmed the incident saying that some of the suspects are already behind bars.

The issue of homosexuality is a huge crime that is punishable with life imprisonment.

However Human rights organisations abhor the actions by the police and fear the deteriorating situation for LGBT people in Uganda.
