The incident happened late Saturday evening near Kaiso Landing site in Buseruka Sub County, Hoima district.

The deceased are all Fishermen attached to Kaiso landing site. Meanwhile, one other person was injured in the attack and is now admitted to Hoima Regional Referral Hospital.

The Fishermen were attacked and shot by DRC Militiamen as they went to search for the body of one of their colleagues who were cut into pieces and dumped into the Lake by the same group last Monday.

This is not the first time men from the Congo side are attacking Ugandan fishermen on the shared waters of Lake Albert.

Deo Obura, the Albertine region Police Commander confirms the incident adding that police has launched investigations to ascertain the rootcause of the attacks. He says the relevant security offices in the country have been alerted about the Saturday massive killing.

The Saturday evening attack brings to Twelve, the total number of Fishermen who have been killed by the suspected Congolese Militiamen in a period of one week.

Ugandan Fishermen have lost Billions of Money in the hands of the suspected Congolese armed soldiers who invade the lake Albert waters and confiscate their fishing gear including fishing nets, boats, boat Engines and Hooks among others.
