The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has revealed the prayer she said to the Lord while on her sickbed.
Earlier this year, Kadaga required special treatment and was flown to Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, and returned to Uganda two months laters after recovering.
Before she was flown to Nairobi, Kadaga first received treatment in Kampala before she went to Nairobi for better treatment. While at Nakasero Hospital in Uganda’s capital, President Yoweri Museveni visited her.
“I kept on telling God that ‘Remember all the work I have done for you. I have taken care of the orphans, the sick, I pray every Sunday at All Saints Church’.”
She was giving her testimony on during a joint thanksgiving prayer organised by Parliament for her and the for upcoming 64th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference that Parliament will host next week.
Kadaga said she received phone calls of thoughts and prayers from the archbishops, sheiks, Seventh Day Adventists and other Ugandans during that trying period.
The Speaker also thanked those who telephoned to God on her behalf.
At the time, Kadaga had just returned from abroad on official visits in Morocco and the US, and according to Parliament, fatigue and jet lag had taken her down.
Months after her recovery, Parliament has organized a thanksgiving prayer session for her health – a full-house function attended by several high-profile figures, including politicians, religious leaders, and other well-wishers.
