The government has cancelled the much-anticipated festival, Nyege Nyege, citing a plot to encourage young people into homosexuality.
“There will be nudity and sexuality done at any time of the hour, there will be open sex,” said Ethics and Integrity Minister Fr Simon Lokodo.
The 3-day popular fest, which was expected to attract thousands of fun lovers, was set to take place at the Nile Resort Beach in Jinja from September 6.
Addressing a press conference at the Uganda Media Centre, Fr Lokodo said it won’t happen.
“I wanted Nyege Nyege cancelled last year but they escaped. Ministry Foreign Affairs is not aware of their activities and this should be a security issue. It is the organisers of Nyege Nyeget that didn’t come to us for clarification,” said Lokodo.
He added: “This event called #NyegeNyege is off. It won’t happen in 2018,” he insisted.
