There was panic in Mbale town on Sunday as heavily armed soldiers stormed St Austin Catholic church for prayers.
The soldiers in fully combat were armed with heavy machine guns while police officers were armed with AK47 guns.
They were however blocked by Steven Ahweera, the regional police boss from entering the church with guns.
Ahweera said they now encourage security officers to attend church prayers , as well as mosques as a way of fighting insecurity.
The soldiers were later allowed into the church after depositing their guns at Mbale central Police station
