The National Resistance Movement (NRM) campaign machinery in Nebbi District has concluded its final planning session ahead of President Yoweri Museveni’s visit on Saturday.

The meeting, held on Friday, brought together district leaders, sub-county chairpersons, and mobilization heads to fine-tune last-minute details for the highly anticipated rally.

State Minister for Mineral Development and Nebbi Woman MP flag bearer, Phiona Nyamutoro, said mobilization has been successfully carried out at all levels to ensure a massive turnout.

“We’ve completed mobilization from the grassroots. Our people are ready, and we’re emphasizing time management because the rally will start early in the morning,” Nyamutoro told journalists after the meeting.

She added that Nebbi’s rally is not just a political gathering but a show of appreciation for President Museveni’s legacy and consistent support for the region.

“The President is coming to thank his people. Nebbi has always stood firmly with the NRM, and tomorrow will be a celebration of that bond,” Nyamutoro said.

The minister highlighted several government achievements in Nebbi under the NRM administration, including the commissioning of the Nebbi substation that linked West Nile to the national power grid, the upgrade of the Nebbi–Goli Road (16km), and the planned Omvoro Industrial Park set to kick off next financial year.

“The light has finally appeared at the end of the tunnel. With new industrial projects, agro-processing, and better roads, Nebbi is on its way to becoming a hub of empowerment in West Nile,” she added.

Nyamutoro also pushed for the upgrade of Nebbi General Hospital to regional referral status and called for more funding to improve education and health infrastructure.

As Minister for Mineral Development, she revealed that new mineral deposits have been discovered in Nebbi, which government intends to explore to benefit locals.

Meanwhile, Padyere County MP Isaac Otimgiu assured that the district is fully prepared to deliver a record-breaking mobilization.

“We’ve observed how other regions have mobilized, but Nebbi will raise the bar higher. Mobilization has been done through all available NRM structures, youth and women groups, and community networks,” Otimgiu said.

He noted that the district’s urban transformation is already visible, with most municipality roads now tarmacked and key routes such as Nyee–Nebbi and Nebbi–Tuarua under upgrade.

“Nebbi is catching up fast. We’re building roads, boosting energy access, and preparing for industrial growth. The district is becoming a model of development in the region,” he added.

President Museveni is expected to address residents of Nebbi District on Saturday morning as part of his nationwide campaign trail.
