Democratic Party (DP) President General Nobert Mao has been named the Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs by President Museveni.
Mao’s appointment was revealed on Thursday afternoon through a communique by President Yoweri Museveni where he also appointed three other people in different ministerial positions.
The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional affairs has been vacant since 2021. It was previously occupied by Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu who has since been moved to Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities.
Mao becomes Uganda’s 18th minister of Justice and constitutional Affairs since independence.
His appointment comes a day after he signed a cooperation agreement between the Democratic Party and the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
In Museveni’s communique, Sports Minister Hamson Obua has been named the Government Chief whip, replacing Thomas Tayebwa who was voted deputy speaker.
Agago Woman MP Beatrice Akello Akori has been named the Minister of State for Economic monitoring in the Office of the President while Peter Ogwang has been named minister of state for Education and Sports.
