The National Unity Platform – NUP faction led by Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has blasted their rival faction saying they are masqueraders who are being used by the ruling government to try and derail their party.

“We have seen reports by some people masquerading as leaders of NUP. … we call upon the public to treat these masqueraders with the contempt they deserve,” Joel Ssenyonyi the spokesperson of NUP Bobi Wine faction said in a statement released Tuesday afternoon.

Ssenyonyi was responding to the news of the opening of new offices by the NUP Kibalama faction in Rubaga Division on Monday.

Moses Kibalama the founder of the NUP who has been at loggerheads with the Kamwokya faction of the party since 2020 called upon Bobi Wine and his members to “join the officially registered party.”

“Previously, the same people [Kibalama faction] told court that the state had coached them to tell lies against the legitimate leadership of the NUP. It is clear the state continues to use them in hope that they will undermine the leadership of the NUP and throw the party into disarray,” Ssenyonyi wrote.

“These attempts are futile and will in no way derail us,” he added before sending a warning to the Kibalama faction saying “the full wrath of the law will be unleashed on them over their fraudulent tendencies.”
