Busiro North MP elect Paul Nsubuga granted bail in Mobile phone theft case

The new Member of Parliament of Busiro North Paul Nsubuga headlined local news outlets after Police cited his involvement in the theft of a mobile phone worth UGX 80,000 and has been under Police custody since last week.

According to a CCTV footage, Mr Nsubuga is alleged to have taken off with a mobile money operator’s itel phone (Kabiriti) loaded with UGX 4.5 million. This was on 3rd June 2020 prior his victory in the Parliamentary race.

The victim of the theft, Gloria Namengo insists it was Paul Nsubuga that snatched her phone in Nakasero opposite Shoprite and demands for justice.

On hearing of his case at Buganda Road High Court, Nsubuga denied all the charges and was granted cash bail of UGX 400,000 whereas his sureties are to pay a non cash bond of 1 million each. The case is yet to be concluded as further investigations are being conducted.
