General Muhoozi to Remain Presidential Advisor on Special Operations Whilst Commanding The SFC

Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba will retain his role as the Presidential Advisor on top of his reappointment as the Commandant of the elite Special Forces Command (SFC), the Ugandan has learnt.

Gen Muhoozi was Wednesday reappointed by President Museveni as Commander of the force which is charged with security of the President and Commander in Chief.

It should be remembered that this is the same force that Gen Muhoozi started/founded many years ago.

Since 2017, Muhoozi has been serving as the President’s Advisor on Special Operations after he was retired from SFC leadership.

“Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is appointed as Commandant of the SFC but will also retain his appointment as senior presidential advisor handling the security issue he has been handling,” directed President Museveni in the reshuffle notice.

At the SFC, Muhoozi is taking over from Gen James Birungyi who is replacing Maj Gen Paul Lokech on the Special Assignment in South Sudan.

In other changes, Museveni named Gen Loketch as the new Deputy Inspector General of Police, to replace Maj Gen Sabiiti Muzeyi who has been sent back to the General Headquarters for redeployment.

“The Police force must be made to perform its duty of defending Ugandans from lawlessness, threat to life and property. Any police person that does not do this must leave the police. There are thousands ready to replace them.” he said.

The new changes, Museveni said take immediate effect, while those in the Police will await approval from Parliament.
