The Electoral Commission (EC) is set to recruit over 962 district tally clerks ahead of the January 2021 general elections.

In a job advert published on Wednesday, the EC indicated that the district tally clerks on the polling day assist in conducting of presidential and parliamentary elections, district city chairpersons and councilors, sub-county chairpersons, and councilors as well as municipal mayors and councilors.

Prospective candidates are to send their applications to the respective district registrars where the applicant may wish to apply depending on where they are born or reside not later than December 24, 2021.

Minimum academic qualifications for applicants are a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education or its equivalent.

Some of the duties of district tally clerks include capturing of results from declaration results forms into the result tally software, ensuring that all results for each election are fully captured and accounted for in the tally software as well as ensuring the security of tally kits on election day among other things.

Uganda will go to the polls on January 14, 2021.
