Cabinet had scheduled a special meeting to deliberate on the reopening of schools and make a final decision, after which the President was going to address the nation on Saturday.

However, according to Senior Press Secretary, Don Wanyama, President Yoweri Museveni will deliver the latest updates on Covid-19 on Sunday.

“The Presidential Address on Covid-19 has been rescheduled to Sunday, September 20th, 8pm,” he tweeted, early Friday.

Uganda entered into a partial lockdown in March when our neighbors announced cases of Covid-19 and a number of measures were taken to facilitate the smooth reopening of some of the sectors that had been closed.

According to the ministry of health figures, Uganda has so far recorded 5380 cases of Covid-19, 2489 recoveries and 60 deaths.
