State Minister for Labour Mwesigwa Rukutana and his three guards Sunday spent a second night at Mbarara Police Station.

Police bond, despite political pressure, was denied.

Four sureties led by Kahinda Otafire, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Jim Muhwezi and businessmen Ben Kavuya and Bob Kabonero appeared at the police station but to no avail.

Rwizi police spokesperson Samson Kasasira refuted earlier reports claiming that Rukutana was given police bond.

He was arrested with his three escorts and driver over a shooting incident that left one critically injured.

Mbarara deputy RDC Emmy Kateera says no one is above the law.

Rukutana, his three bodyguards and driver were arrested Saturday and transferred from Ntungamo to Mbarara CPS where they are detained on attempted murder, malicious damage and inciting violence.
