Former Minister and Flight Captain Francis Babu has slammed hatters to stop attacking families in politics.

Speaking while appearing on NBS Moring Breeze, Babu stated that his entire family going for elective positions should not an issue to discuss but the question should be whether they are qualified and capable of offering effective leadership.

The former National Resistance Movement party National Vice Chairperson for Kampala region stated that Politics is a talent.

“I have seen doctor’s children becoming doctors. Why don’t you want politician’s children to be politicians? The only unfair thing is using the parents’ position to win. If free and fair elections are in place, nobody should be discriminated”. Francis Babu said.

He added that It is only insecure people who use all sorts of methods to try and convince using all sorts of measures to discredit opponents.

It should be noted that prior to the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) elections, Babu had offered himself to contest against Hajji Moses Kigongo, His wife Olivia Zziwa is in the race for Nakawa West Constituency while their son Cedric Babu is in the race to unseat Hon. Muhammad Nsereko in Kampala Central.

Babu’s Family is not the only one of its kind on spot, Daughters and sons of top politicians have showed a lot of appetite for a number of political office like Agriculture Minister Hon. Vincent Ssempijja’s daughter Justine Namere who wants the Buganda region Youth representative seat, Minister Sam Kutesa’s daughter has also showed interest in replacing the her father, a move that has sparked intense violence in Ssembabule district.

On commenting about this matter, Captain Francis Babu noted that this is not something new.

“There are actors in Sembabule who think they are untouchable. The law of karma is acting in Sembabule. Things are coming back to their doorsteps.” He said.
