Kampala Central Woman MP Nabillah Naggayi Ssempala has won the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag for Kampala Lord Mayor.

Nabilah was vetted Monday morning at the Kamwokya based NUP offices.

She is expected to be officially announced by the party.

Nabilah occupies the vacant position left by Latif Ssebagala who stepped down from the race.

According to Mercy Walukamba, the chairperson of the NUP election management committee, two candidates Naggayi and Kuruda Ssali applied for the ticket.

Naggayi ditched her party, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) after it denied her the ticket for the same position.

Naggayi had in July sought a ticket from FDC but was blocked by the party Electoral Commission for missing the nomination deadline.

Later FDC unveiled incumbent Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago as its candidate.

However on reacting on this matter, Lukwago said that its now a sure win for his team.
