Kampala City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago put to bed proclamations that Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) was planning to front him as their presidential flag bearer for the 2021 general elections.

This follows Lukwago’s decision to pick nomination forms to run for Kampala Lord Mayorship seat on FDC ticket in the forthcoming elections.

Last month, Lukwago officially joined Uganda’s main opposition party.

Lukwago who is a life member of the Democratic Party (DP) was ushered into FDC by its president general Patrick Amuriat Oboi.

Speaking to media today, Erias Lukwago launched his bid to retain the Kampala Lord Mayor’s seat. He will run for the seat on the FDC Party card.

Lukwago said he will focus on bringing the rights of Kampala People who are oppressed by the mafias. Some of the FDC members who attended the launch included FDC spokesperson Ssemujju Nganda, Nabbosa Ssebugwawo, and other division mayors.

Lukwago will battle it with DP’s Beatrice Kayanja and Joseph Mayanja (National Unity Platform), Daniel Kazibwe alias Ragga Dee (National Resistance Movement).

Lukwago has been the Kampala Lord Mayor since 2011 and he is not ready to leave the position.
