Kinkizi West’s Musevenist abandons NRM Party Primaries Race Over District Mafia Politics

As the country gets ready for the looming Ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party elections, a number of suspicion causing issues have emerged at different levels.

Unlike the famous suspicion arising from the Central Executive Committee, where people vetting candidates are also contesting for the same seats, the same disease has penetrated district elections, a move that has forced some of the competent aspirants to desert the party they love most to contest as independents.

News reaching our desk indicates that one of the Kinkizi West Parliamentary race in Kanungu District has withdrawn his candidature.

Speaking to this website, Hon. Dixon Kagurusi Ampumuza revealed that he abandoned party primaries due to cliquish tendencies and intolerance of the district party leadership that serves the intrests of the mafia.

Kagurusi adds that he also does not believe in the party mode of election which requires voters to line up behind their candidates or their Agents.

“I will contest as Independent because the current party leadership has been compromised. Just like they have done in the previous elections, I feel I will serve better as an independent candidate since the people conducting the primaries are alleys and business partners of the incumbent. This can’t guarantee a free and fair election given our previous experience where votes were not counted” Kagurusi said.

Dixon Kagurusi Ampumuza, the Makerere University lecturer who hails from Kanyantorogo Sub County is said to be commanding big support among the youth age bracket, has capacity to defeat the incumbent hands down basing on his failure to serve the interest of the voters and the party at large.

“They all know my strength, whether I’m on the party ticket or independent, I have capacity to defeat them all. My grassroots mobilisation is in high gear and what I can guarantee is that they will face it tough facing off with an informed, and popular candidate like me in the final race.” Kagurusi added.

Kinkizi West Constituency is currently occupied by Hon James Ruggi Kaberuka who is seeking re-election for the second term having succeeded former Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi in 2016.

Others who were duly nominated to contest for Kinkizi West Parliamentary Seat in the NRM primary elections are Julius Mbabazi, Gregory Mugabe, Vanansio Mujuni Monday and Adon Kahinda.

The winner of the NRM primaries will face Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) nominated candidate Brian Atuheire Batenda who has been nicknamed ‘unstoppable’. And now Mr. Kagurusi who has offered himself to compete as an independent.
