A delegation of Ambassadors from the European Union Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the National Unity Platform (NU)- People Power’s Kamwokya based party Secretariat.
They were received by the party leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine who showed them around.
They later held a high level closed door meeting to address Ugandans about the details of this engagement.
“This morning, it was an absolute pleasure and honour to host the European Union Delegation at the head office of the National Unity Platform, in Kamwokya, Kampala,” Bobi Wine said.
He said the Delegation, which comprised of their Excellencies, the Ambassadors of various European nations visited them to discuss several matters of great national importance.
“I thanked their Excellencies for visiting us, and assured them that the National Unity Platform is committed to building a free, democratic and prosperous nation, with solid mutual cooperation with development partners and the nations of the world.”
NUP in a statement also condemned security forces that continue to harass the activities of opposition political leaders together with their supporters.
The latest case being the unlawful impediment of Hon Kyagulanyi by the Uganda police when he was supposed to appear on BCU radio on Saturday last week, it’s increasingly becoming more difficult to draw a line between the security forces [which are supposed to exhibit non partisanship practices].
“The dictatorship as with no shame, a police officer is recorded campaigning and mobilizing on behalf of the Museveni regime,” the statement said.
“The men and women in uniform should be reminded that they are servants of the people and not their tormentors.”
European Union head of delegation in Uganda led the envoys from plus the ambassadors of France, Netherlands, Hungary, Austria, Sweden,Ireland & Denmark.
