President Yoweri Museveni has announced that he was compelled to take a test for Covid 19 after he lost voice.

The President said doctors on Sunday morning took samples from him and returned them in the evening confirming that he was free of the virus.

Museveni made the revelation on Tuesday while he was being nominated for President at the NRM offices in Kampala.

At the event, he had a severely hoarse voice.

He said his troubles started over the weekend when he had very long meetings and he had to talk for hours in the mask. In the end, he says he suffered a sour throat and his voice was lost.

“It appears that when you talk for long in the mask you it affects your voice,” he said.

“When I lost my voice, my thought this was, this is Corona. My immediately reaction was to call my young doctors.”

Thankfully, on Sunday evening he says the samples came back negative.,

“Apparently there is another bacteria which can cause a hoarse voice, but it was also not there. Yesterday I went to cabinet briefly and I came back and rested the voice.”

The President says he has since been advised to take lemon, honey and ginger, which he is taking in large amounts.
