South Sudan army on Monday confirmed it killed businessman Kerbino Wol Agok who recently announced a rebellion against the government in Juba.

According to the SSPDF, Captain Kerbino was shot and killed following days of offensive reportedly launched on his position in Eastern Lakes state.

“The 4 days offensive operations resulted in the neutralization, which was the killing of Wol Agok, along with two others at Ayen Mayar Villiage in Amukpiny in Rumbek East,” SSPDF spokesperson, Major General Lul Ruai told Eye Radio.

Kerbino recently announced the formation the 7th October Movement he said would wage war against the government “to bring about democratic changes” in South Sudan.

However, many people in South Sudan are not happy with Salva Kiir’s move to kill a young man who they say was a philanthropist, and an entrepreneur.

Sebit William Ker Tony, a radio producer wrote on his facebook: “How as a country we have manage to turn this very promising Entrepreneur,Philanthropist who employed over 3000 young men and women to a prisoner, Rebel leader and then kill him in less than two years can’t be explain. We have failed Kernino Wol, He died a very angry man. All he wanted was to help his country. In this Interview with me on February 5th 2018 …His foundation ….The Nile Foundation, a national organization had trained over 1,500 young people in the areas of entrepreneurship, leadership and peace building. He said and I quote ” Every successful country has one thing in common …and that is strong private sector and young people of course are the engine .As its always said If you want to be rich for one year ,go into drug business but if you want to be rich for the rest of your life , invest in the human capital that why i work with the youth.”
