Jinja’s RDC Eric Sakwa Released

Recently arrested Resident District Commissioner of Jinja, Eric Sakwa has been released by court on bail by granted bail by Jinja Chief Magistrate, Jessica Chemeri. However, the accused didn’t physically appear in court but rather attended the session through a video call.

 

RDC Eric Sakwa was arrested by police for man slaughter while implementing the Presidential Directives on containing COVID-19 last week and was remanded to Kirinya Prison.

Prosecution alleges that Eric Sakwa and three other accomplices unlawfully caused the death of Charles Isanga, a business man in Jinja. The accused also allegedly stole money amounting to Ugx80,000, three crates of beer, eight trays of eggs, waragi sachets, and soda belonging to the deceased.

 

The trio first appeared before magistrate Ann Kobusingye, who remanded them to prison until May 13.
