AIR Force And Special Forces Command Give Back to Entebbe Community

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces -Air Force and Special Forces Command yesterday carried out many activities as way to show unity with the people of Entebbe as they commemorate the 39th Tarehesita Anniversary under  the theme  “consolidating the UPDF strategic partnership with the people to guard the  gains of liberation”.
While  flagging off the tarehe sita Civil Military activities in Entebbe municipality Wakiso District ,the Commander Special Forces Command Maj Gen James Birungi said they have to give back to the civilian community since the UPDF is built on the  principles of a pro people army.
Gen Birungi added that the Uganda People’s Defence Forces has kept a strong and examplary name both nationally and internationally due to the good relationship with the people.
“Without Wanainchi, we have no work ,we are what we are because of them,” he said.
As part of the activities,there was also a friendly foot ball match between the Civilians and Army where  civilians won the army by 1-0 goals.
Gen Birungi congratulated the winning team and thanked both teams for playing  a brotherhood match which  further strengthens the relationship.
The RDC Entebbe Ali Njuki applauded the good work done by Air Force and SFC militants in conducting the activities which support the development of Entebbe in general and in particular  keeping entebbe clean.
“Healthy families result to a healthy and developed country,” he noted .
Mr. Njuki said UPDF has always been there for the people right from 1986 when the NRA liberated the nation, peace, security, good cooperation have been at their peak and it should be maintained.
The  Forces had two  medical camps one at Kigungu landing site and another one at Works grounds Entebbe town.
Blood donation, laboratory checkups ,distribution of mosquito nets , cancer and tetanus  vaccination and  treatment of illness were the medical services  rendered.
Areas of Kigungu landing site, Entebbe town, and Kitoro were  cleaned by the forces supported by the local Defence Units in Entebbe and without failing to mention the patriotic clubs of Air Force secondary school and the general public of Entebbe .
