World Football Body Fines, Suspends FUFA Boss Magogo Over Illegal Resale of World Cup Tickets

The world football governing body, FIFA has suspended the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) President Moses Magogo for two months on top of slapping a fine of Shs37m over the illegal sale of 2014 World Cup Tickets.

The Ethics committee on Thursday revealed that an investigation into the Ugandan FA president was opened on 23 July 2018 in relation to the resale of 2014 FIFA World Cup tickets.

This comes days after Eng. Magogo had told delegates that he would be stepping down for two months at the annual FUFA general assembly.

It has now turned out that it was actually FIFA that asked him to refrain from any football-related activity as part of his punishment.

“The chairman of the adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee has ratified the plea bargain entered into by Mr. Moses Hassim Magogo, President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations and member of the Confederation of African Football Executive Committee, and the chairperson of the investigatory chamber,” reads part of the communication from FIFA Ethics Committee.

The committee also revealed that an investigation into the case of Magogo was opened on July 23, 2018, related to the resale of 2014 FIFA World Cup tickets.

In accordance with article 67 par.1 of the FIFA Code of Ethics, the parties mutually agreed that Magogo will be fined $10,000 (Shs37m) and a two-month suspension from taking part in any kind of football-related activity at national and international level.

The suspension became effective upon the validation of the agreement by the chairman of the adjudicatory chamber on 10 October 2019.
