Kigezi youth leaders and district leadership held a meeting yesterday chaired by the Permanent Secretary–Ministry of Local government. The meeting was graced by the  State House comptroller Ms Lucy Nakyobe as the Chief Guest.

During the meeting that discussed the creation of industrial zonal parks, the youth leaders were informed that 20 zonal parks have been chosen and the centre for Kigezi will be in Kabale, hosting districts of Kanungu, Kisoro, Kabale, Rukiga, Rubanda and Rukungiri.

These parks will be used to equip the youth and women with skills in carpentry, welding, hairdressing, bakery, and shoemaking.

Hon. Nasasira Eliab the Kanungu District youth councillor told this reporter that machines will be provided and there will be an opportunity for free production for sale.

The training will also be for everyone interested. It should be noted that this is a presidential initiative and intends to benefit all Ugandans regardless of political parties.

Value addition and the four-acre model as articulated by the president when he visited Kigezi will be set up as well.

“Therefore, any youth interested in this initiative you to consult me,” said Hon Nasasira.
