Four men have been charged with kidnap and murder of social worker Maria Nagirinya and her driver Ronald Kitayimbwa.

The four include Coporiyamu Kasolo alias Arsenal, Johnson Lubega alias Etoo Rasta Manonmano, Nasif Kalyango alias Muwonge, and Hassan Kisekka.

They appeared before Nateete Grade Magistrate Joel Kagoye who read out the charges to them.

They were not allowed to plead since they are charged with capital offenses only tried by the High Court.

“The offences you are charged with are capital in nature and can only be heard in the High Court,” Mr Wegoye told the suspects.

The prosecution alleges that on August 28, 2019, the accused kidnaped Nagirinya and Kitayimbwa and later murdered them.

They also face an alternative count of aggravated robbery.

They have been remanded until September 27 when they will reappear in court to know the status of investigation in their case.

Meanwhile,  the magistrate told the suspects that they will not be physically taken to court as proceedings will be via video-conferencing at Buganda Road court.
