Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has flagged off a team of youngsters that will represent Uganda at the Africa Motocross Championship 2019 in Zimbabwe.
At least 37 riders will represent Uganda at the Championship due on 31st August to 1st September in Zimbabwe.
Gen Kainerugaba, a sports-loving military officer made a few remarks before telling the organizers and the riders that he is a man of few words, adding that most of his talking is in his actions.
In his brief remarks, the General praised the young riders some of whom are six years as courageous and patriotic.
Gen Muhoozi also hailed the children’s parents for supporting their children to participate in the high-risk sport.
“Thank you for loving Uganda, thank you for representing Uganda at a young age, when I see you dressed in the Ugandan flag, I feel very happy. I know that young people like you are the future of our country,” Gen Kainerugaba said.
Gen Muhoozi advised the riders to be cautious so as to avoid nasty accidents that are associated with the sport.
The General concluded his remarks by delivering his uncle Gen Salim Saleh’s message who wished the well and contributed Sh20m to assist in their endeavors.
Gen Muhoozi also praised the courage of the riders, saying what they do takes a strong heart.
“It takes a lot of courage to do what you are doing. You are definitely courageous young boys and girls (and) it says a lot about your character, it means that going forward, you will be able to achieve a lot of things.”
The FMU officials hailed Gen Muhoozi for supporting sports in the country and promised to bring trophies back home.
The FMU president Mr. Dusman Okee and Mr. Barak Orland, the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) Deputy Vice President Motorcycling were present.
