Electoral Commission Vows Transparency Ahead of 2021 Elections

The Electoral Commission has revealed the possible dates during which the presidential and parliamentary elections will be held ahead of 2021.

These are estimated to be around 11th January to 9th February 2021.

According to the Electoral Commission chairman, Justice Simon Byabakama, they are willing to deliver a “fair and transparent” ballot as long as other stakeholders meet their part of the bargain.

This was revealed during the release of the 2020/21 strategic plan and election roadmap on Tuesday.

It was also declared that parliamentary candidates would be nominated on 12th August 2020 and those vying for presidency would be catered for on 20th August.

The chairman then urged all stakeholders to play their part in seeing to it that this election process is a success because the EC cannot practice as a monopoly.

This election will be the first nationwide election that this commission after the one that handled the former election was dissolved and a new one appointed after the last election that was in 2016.
