The Police in Kampala are investigating circumstances under which a lawyer was Today shot at his chambers in the city.
Mr Wilbert Muhereza of Owoyesigire & Co Advocates was reportedly shot by a private security guard at his chambers on Access Building, Rubaga Road opposite Hotel Sojovalo in Kampala.
He was rushed to hospital for medical attention.
An eye witness told the Press that Mr Muhereza was shot by two stray bullets; on the arm and in the waist by a private security guard who had been deployed to man the building.
“I think the Askari was cleaning his gun when it released two bullets that hit the lawyer.
He was rushed to Mengo hospital by a boda boda. The Askari was arrested by police,” said a lady who works in the same building.
The Police Spokesperson Emilian Kayima says, the investigations have commenced.
“The lawyer was injured by a bullet shot when a security guard was allegedly handling his weapon which discharged a bullet, injuring the lawyer at Access Building at Kabakanjagala road, Rubaga Division, Kampala. The gun too is in the hands of the police as an exhibit in this investigation,” Kayima says.
