President Yoweri Museveni who is also the commander in chief of the armed forces has cleared General David Sejusa also known as Tinyefuza to retire from the UPDF.

Lt Gen Ivan Koreta, another long serving officer is also among the senior officers to retire from the UPDF.

Other top UPDF officers to retire include, Lt Gen Joram Mugume, Maj Gen Nathan Mugisha and Maj Gen Samuel Turyagyenda.

This website has learnt that the army leadership will also retire twelve (12) officers at the rank of Brigadier while ten (10) Colonels are also part of the group set to retire next year in July.

Gen Sejusa who is the former coordinator of intelligence services, Gen David Sejusa came under fire from the UPDF for engaging in partisan political activities during the 2016 presidential campaigns yet he was a serving army officer.

According to Nile Wires an online publication the president has order the CDF to include Sejusa on the list of those set to retire.

Sejusa fled Uganda to UK in May 2013 after he wrote a controversial letter demanding an investigation into an alleged assassination plot against officials opposed to perceived presidential ambitions by First Son Maj Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

He returned in December 2014 and demanded to be retired from the army. He was however not allowed to retire with observers saying President Museveni was avoiding a possibility of Sejusa fully engaging in politics at the president’s expense.

Recently, the maverick former intelligence chief, General David Sejusa described new kid on the block Bobi Wine as Bobi Wine as a hero.

In a tweet, the controversial former spy chief noted ‘‘Bobi wine represents old struggle between Art and Tyranny.’’

Sejusa said that dictators hate and fear artists. Bobi music defies media censorship and moves faster.

Bobi Wine has emerged as a serious opposition figure.

He pulls crowds, his posts go viral, something that could have alarmed the authorities.
