Ms. Josephine Karungi has been appointed as acting Head of News at NTV Uganda News Department replacing seasoned TV journalist Maurice Mugisha.

Karungi will be reporting to the General Manager Editorial, Mr. Daniel Kalinaki.

Maurice Mugisha who has been the face of NTV for a long time is said to be joining UBC in a bid to revamp the national broadcaster.

Ms. Karungi holds a Bachelors degree in Mass Communication from Makerere University. She joined NTV in 2009 as a news anchor and currently presents a life style show called ‘Perspective With Josephine Karungi’

Meanwhile the entire crew of Live Wire, a popular gossip show on Spark TV, a sister station to NTV has also joined rival station NBS.

It is said that the Live Wire crew had not been receiving salary, only receiving meager allowances, something Kin Kariisa of NBS learnt of before snatching the crew.

Meanwhile, Maurice Mugisha, according to inside sources has been entangled in a power struggle with Mr Kalinaki ever since he returned from Nairobi to manage all Nation Media Group outlets.

It should be remembered that Mr Charles Bichachi who was the Executive Editor was technically nocked out to ensure absolute power over editorial decisions by Mr Kalinaki.

Slowly, Kalinaki has now ensured that all the NMG outlets are under his guidance by ensuring ‘small gods ‘are kicked out or given less influential roles.
