Amama Mbabazi Praises Museveni For Transforming Uganda

Former presidential candidate Amama  Mbabazi has said that he will forever thank President Museveni for his good and transformative leadership right from the days of the liberation struggle.

Mbabazi, a former prime minister said that even if he ran against Museveni in the past presidential election, he never said anything bad about his bush-war comrade.

Speaking in local dialect Rukiga, Mbabazi said: “The man led us very well in the war and we won, he has led us very well in government, Uganda has changed, isn’t it?” asked Mbabazi.

The former Kinkizi West MP said that he only wanted President Museveni to rest, adding that even the one who tills soft land, takes a rest.

Mbabazi who recently invited President Museveni at his daughter’s give away was speaking at a fundraising for Kihihi high school’s multipurpose hall. Over 67 million shillings was raised.

Mbabazi who was the chief guest contribute 400 iron sheets worth 18 million shillings while businessman James Garuga contributed 200 iron sheets worth 9 million shillings.

Recently, President Museveni praised his former prime minister Amama Mbabazi for his contribution towards the liberation struggle that brought the ruling National Resistance Army (NRA) into power in 1986.

Mr Museveni was speaking at the giveaway (Kuhingira) of Mr Mbabazi’s niece, Ms Bridget Birungi to Mr Andile Ramaphosa, the son of South African president, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, at a colourful ceremony in Kololo, Kampala in August.

“We were able to rebuild networks among the intellectuals while we kept the others which had not been exposed, especially among the workers. So from 1974, the family of the Hon Mbabazi and Jackie, helped our struggle. They contributed to our struggle greatly, so I thank them,” Mr Museveni said.

The President also thanked his former close ally for inviting him to attend his niece’s giveaway.

“I want to thank my young brother and my sister in-law Jackie Mbabazi, for inviting me with Mama Janet for the Kuhingira of the child of this freedom fighter, whom I did not know. I thank them very much,” Mr Museveni said.
