Veteran politician Omar Kalinge Nnyago has listed nine things that must be done of the opposition in Uganda are to succeed in removing President Yoweri Museveni from power.

Kalinge who has been in politics since 1995 when he served as the national campaign coordinator for presidential candidate Mohammed Kibirige Mayanja in the 1996 presidential elections says that the oppostion in Uganda must complement other but not fight among themselves if they are to realise regime change in the country.

The veteran politician who was instrumental in the formation of the Justice Forum (JEEMA), where he has been its spokesperson form 2005 to 2010 posted on his Facebook page the nine things which we reproduce below:

*We need a dedicated team of Ugandan opinion shapers, bloggers, leaders to do this 24/7*

  1. Preserve the Besigye support base by not undermining Kizza Besigye.
  2. Help People Power clearly define its vision for Uganda and grow its support base among the youth. And to help People power talk more than politics ..to have programs for youth enlightenment, self-improvement and gainful employment.
  3. Re awaken the opposition to the need to tap into the invaluable experience in power play and in his extensive national international networks that Amama Mbabazi can contribute to the change project.
  4. Explain the strengths of less emotional approaches to political change and the focus on planning and systematic approach to problem solving that Muntu (and his New Formation)has been known for. And see value in having a former Army commander at our service.
  5. Help active political parties grow their organisational competencies, and to strengthen their women, youth leagues.
  6. Encourage and harmonise all change seeking Ugandans in the diaspora by extending cooperation and respect to their unique approaches to change.
  7. Stimulate interest in, and cultivate need for organised lobby and diplomatic and international fundraising action – a task well suited for Diaspora Ugandans.
  8. Encourage more civil society action. We regard faith communities as a crucial element of civil society.

This is my 9 point awareness strategy for 2018-2019.

At the end of 2019, we evaluate impact.
