Partial results from a random opinion poll conducted by this website have revealed that if presidential elections were to be held today, Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi would become president.
Kyagulanyi who is better known by his stage name Bobi Wine would be followed by Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu who has just announced his departure from the biggest opposition party Forum for Democratic Change FDC.

After over eight months of nationwide consultations, Gen Muntu and a group of FDC members such as Winnie Kiiza, Kassiano Wadri among others have since revealed they will by December 25 have formed a fully fledged political party. Currently, Gen Muntu and his team will be operating through a political vehicle code named New Formation.

Dr Kizza Besigye who has been the flag bearer for the FDC in the past three presidential elections would come third while President Yoweri Museveni who has won elections in the past five presidential elections would come forth.

According to the poll results, Bobi Wine would get 39% of the vote while his closest challenger, Gen Muntu would get 32%. Dr Besigye who has for the last fifteen years been securing the second positions would settle for 15% while President Museveni despite being the most followed politician on social media in Uganda would only get 14%.

The twitter poll that has so far attracted 323 participants shows that none of the candidates would become president. To be declared president of Uganda, according to the constitution one requires 50 per cent plus one vote of the valid votes cast.

In the past elections (2016), Museveni won 60.75% of the vote while his nearest rival Kizza Besigye took 35%, according to the election commission said.

Of recent, Bobi Wine has become a major political force following his arrest and alleged torture during the Arua Municipality MP by-election. Kyagulanyi has also influenced election results in Jinja Municipality East, Bugiri and Arua where his preferred candidates have won with significant margins.

The singer-turned politician is now seen by many as a potential presidential candidate although he has said he is not interested in the top political seat at the moment.

Bobi Wine has also forced Museveni to embark on a series of demobilization by injecting money in youth projects with recent being in Kamwokya where groups of youths were given Shs100million.

There is also talk that Gen Muntu and Bobi Wine could form an alliance that may be fronted as a joint force against Museveni’s NRM.
On the side of the FDC, it is now not clear after an exodus by top leaders from the biggest opposition party.

The leaders, led by Muntu accuse Besigye and his group of intolerance.
What remains clear at the moment however is that the four candidates featured on our poll could end up on the presidential election ballot paper come 2021.
