The family of the former Buyende District Police Commander-DPC Muhammad Kirumira says they are still being trailed by unknown persons.

Their anxiety was reignited on Monday evening when a yet to be identified man who was masquerading as a Uganda People’s Defence Force’s-UPDF  Officer at the rank of Major was arrested from the deceased’s home in Bulenga, Wakiso District. The arrest comes a day after the burial of the outspoken police officer, whose life was gruesomely ended on Saturday night.

Mahad Kirumira, a brother to the slain police officer, says the man, in his 30’s had been wandering around the deceased’s home since Sunday and was often seen talking to particular family members and mourners.

According to Kirumira, the masquerader disappeared as soon as Gen Henry Tumukunde, the Former Security Minister, visited the home yesterday afternoon and only resurfaced later.  He adds that although he told him that he was a Major, the same man told other family members that he was a State House operative.

A military officer who had accompanied Gen Tumukunde to the deceased’s home was alerted leading to his arrest.

Upon his arrest, the man was found without any identification document besides a police bond in names of Kateete. Most of the contacts in his mobile phones were saved with a title Afande, often used in reference to security personnel. Mahad Kirumira says the arrest has thrown the family into panic.

Prior to his death, Mohammad Kirumira and his wife, Mariam had separately reported cases of threats against their lives claiming that unidentified people had been trailing him with numberless motorcycles.
