The Uganda Police Force has confirmed the shooting dead of ASP Muhammad Kirumira at Bulenga near his home at around 9:00pm. He was with a lady residents confirmed to be his wife.
The lady too succumbed to bullet wounds and was pronounced dead on arrival at Rubaga Hospital this evening.
In his last Facebook post, Kirumira seemed to bid farewell to his followers:
“The almighty is above all of us. I wish every body well,” Kirumira posted the words with a photo showing him in a white tunic and black jacket.
He also left behind an audio congratulating Ugandan journalists for democratically electing new leaders.
Kirumira was driving his personal vehicle which is still at the scene of crime at Bulenga.
“We condemn these heinous criminal acts and promise to hunt down these merciless criminals and bring them to book,” Police said in a statement.
