Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu faces a maximum sentence of death by hanging if police investigations determine that he was behind attacks on President Museveni last evening in Arua.

Police have confirmed that Kyagulanyi together with his candidate of choice in the Arua by-election are in their custody. Police spokesman Emilian Kayima however said investigations are still ongoing to determine appropriate charges.

“It is a criminal act to attack the presidential convoy as it is provided for in the traffic act,”  Kayima said in a statement seen by this website.

The law

The same Act provides that once convicted of treason, one is liable to suffer death by hanging.
