Police Battle Fresh Protests Over Bobi Wine Arrest

The Police have deployed heavily in Kamwokya, a Kampala suburb after fresh protests broke out over the arrest of Kyadondo MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.

Bobi Wine who operates a string of businesses in the area grew up in Kamwokya and prides in the place which he has always claimed to represent as the Ghetto President.

Mr Kyagulanyi was last night intercepted at Entebbe Airport as he attempted to fly out of the country to seek further medical attention.

Bobi Wine was arrested about two weeks ago and subsequently charged with treason. He was released on bail by the Gulu High Court but police said yesterday, the legislator would need to be examined by government doctors as he had claimed to have been tortured.

Bobi Wine is charged with treason alongside 32 others for attacking President Museveni’s convoy in Arua two weeks ago.

His Mityana Municiaplity colleague, Francis Zaake was equally blocked from leaving the country as he attempted to seek further treatment in India. He was arrested on charges of treason and malicious damage to property in Arua.
