Students through their university chapter associations countrywide have launched an association that intends to bring them together under one umbrella.

The association codenamed “UGANDA NRM STUDENTS ASSOCIATION” was launched at Kati Kati restaurant in Kampala on Wednesday.

“It’s time for students to also contribute to the party,” said Derick Kagurusi the NRM Chairman task force Makerere university and a founder member of the association.

The association is aimed at mobilizing and recruiting more students into the party and also teach them the ideology of the party.

“We realize many students support NRM but have not been mobilized to appreciate it and it’s from today that we say they should appreciate and develop into strong cadres.

The registered students shall be equipped with the party ideology in Kyakwanzi who will later be ambassadors in different regions, the association shall also bring the youth together as the future leaders who have been trained and ready to take responsibility in any party activities that may come up,” said Mr Kagurusi.

He added: “We believe this initiative will lead to long term benefits to the party and since the party starts with young people who eventually grow into strong cadres in the future, we call upon all students to register and serve the party diligently in order to keep the party flag high.”

The association was formed with the slogan “TOGETHER FOR A STEADY PROGRESS” come we be one and serve our party.
