Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and his colleague Francis Zaake have rejected treatment by government doctors as they locked themselves in their rooms at Kiruddu Hospital.
The two legislators were barred from travelling to the US (Bobi) and India (Zaake) by the police who intercepted them and drove them back to Kampala in the night.
Police said that government doctors must examine the legislators since they said they were tortured at the hands of security agencies. It is not clear what will happen next after the two politicians and their caretakers locked themselves in their hospital rooms.
Earlier today, the Police engaged in running battles in Kamwokya, a Kampala suburb after fresh protests broke out over the arrest of Kyadondo MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.
Bobi Wine who operates a string of businesses in the area grew up in Kamwokya and prides in the place which he has always claimed to represent as the Ghetto President.
Bobi Wine was arrested about two weeks ago and subsequently charged with treason. He was released on bail by the Gulu High Court but police said yesterday, the legislator would need to be examined by government doctors as he had claimed to have been tortured.
Bobi Wine is charged with treason alongside 32 others for attacking President Museveni’s convoy in Arua two weeks ago.
His Mityana Municiaplity colleague, Zaake was equally blocked from leaving the country as he attempted to seek further treatment in India. He was arrested on charges of treason and malicious damage to property in Arua.
