Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu commonly known as Bobi Wine has paralysed traffic in the city as he walked from Parliamentary Avenue to Kampala Central Police Station (CPS) for interrogation over charges of assault, illegal assembly and theft of police handcuffs.
Kyagulanyi was summoned by police in connection with protests staged last week where he was one of the lead members as they protested against the new Shs200 daily tax on social media and the 1% mobile money tax on all transactions.
The summons was made through a letter addressed to the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga and delivered on July 13.
Kyagulanyi started his journey from Parliament accompanied by the Leader of Opposition Winnie Kiiza with an entourage comprising of a cross section of MPs and civilians with motorcycles and cars.
Other opposition MPs who escorted Bobi Wine to CPS where he is currently being grilled include; Gilbert Olanya, Francis Zaake, Centenary Robert, Betty Muzanira, Mbwatekamwa Gaffa and others. During last week’s protests, Bobi Wine evaded police arrest, ran and sneaked inside Parliament.
