The Uganda Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura has finally made a statement responding to rumors that he has been hospitalized in critical condition.

Gen Kayihura had earlier been reported to be hospitalized in a private hospital in India. Rumors quickly spread forcing the police spokesman Asan Kasingye to call a press conference to address his boss’ issue.

Mr Kasingye had said that Kayihura was in Turkey on official duty although the police spokesman’s statement was quickly dismissed by a Turkish official, deepening the suspicion of Kayihura’s health and whereabouts.

Close sources however indicate that Gen Kayihura instructed his handlers to share his pictures taken while visiting Adana Forensic University in Turkey ahead of his return to Uganda on Sunday.

Although sources in Uganda suggest that the police chief had been unwell, he seemed healthy in the pictures.

A source that preferred anonymity at Naguru police headquarters said that before Gen Kayihura left the country, he had been going to office with a cannula on his right arm. A cannua is a thin tube inserted into a vein or body cavity to administer medicine or insert a surgical instrument.

In the photos Kayihura released on Saturday afternoon, Gen Kayihura is posing with top Turkish authorities and Mr Moses Kasujja Uganda’s Ambassador to Turkey.
