Gen Kahinda Otafiire, the former Member of Parliament for Ruhinda County north must be a happy man following the predicament of his nemesis Capt Donozio Kahonda who was on Thursday kicked out of parliament after he was found guilty of uttering false academic documents.
As a norm, it would have expected that Kahionda’s political rival would have come out to celebrate the downfall of a man who gave him sleepless nights in the 2016 election.
Current Ruhinda County Member of Parliament, Capt Donozio Kahonda has literally lost his MP seat after he was handed a nine months prison sentence after being found guilty of eleven counts of forgery and uttering false documents.
The Jinja Magistrate’s Court Mr John Francis Kaggwa on Thursday sent the Capt Kahonda to Kirinya Prison to serve the sentence.
Kahonda is famous for his dramatic win in the 2016 election where he defeated Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Gen Kahinda Otafiire in the NRM primaries and the February 18, 2016, elections.
Although Gen Otaffire tried so hard in vain to retain his seat as MP, he has said at past functions that after he is now living a happy life where people don’t disturb him to go for village burials and weddings in his constituency.
It is however believed that Gen Otafiire has been working behind the scenes to ensure the collapse of Capt Kahonda who embarrassed the bush warfighter.
Cap Kahonda defeated Gen Otaffire both in the NRM primaries and the general election when Otafiire insisted to run as an independent.
From the look of things, there will be a by-election to replace Kahonda.
We will follow closely to see if Gen Otafiire who claims to be living a happier life today doesn’t throw his hat in the ring.
