The Rev. Canon Alfred Olwa (PhD) Elected the 3rd Bishop of Lango Diocese

Rev. Canon Alfred Olwa (PhD) has been elected as the 3rd bishop of Lango Diocese replacing Rt. Rev. Charles Odurkami. He will be consecrated and enthroned  as Bishop on 13th August 2017 at All Saints Cathedral, Boroboro, Lira  following his election by the House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda sitting at Namirembe Guest House on on 31/05/2017

 

Rev. Canon Alfred Olwa was born on 29th January 1964 in Namasale in

Lango Diocese. In his academic endeavours, he attained the Diploma in

Theology and Bachelor of Divinity from Makerere University and Bishop

Turker Theological College, Mukono in 1990 and 1998; PGD (Aspects of

Biblical Interpretation) and MTh by Research from Brunel University,

Uxbridge; London Bible College in 2001 and 2003. He currently holds a

PhD which he attained in 2012 from University of Western Sydney; Moore

College, Sydney.

 

Alfred was ordained a priest in 1994 and has served as the Archdeacon

and Diocesan Secretary in Lango Diocese; Chaplain of Hospital and

Prison in Lira; Lecturer, Researcher and has supervised PhD

Dissertations, MA, MDiv, and BD research works, currently serving as

Dean of the Faculty of Theology and Divinity at Uganda Christian

University, Mukono.

Alfred gave his life to Christ on 4th April 1982 in Ayile, Amoro. He

is married to Rev. Susan Olwa and they have three (3) children (Mrecy,

Mark, and Hope).
