Why President Museveni won’t bury Besigye’s Father-in law Mzee Byanyima

If you have been looking forward to President Museveni and Dr Kizza Besigye meeting at the burial of Mzee Boniface Byanyima, you have to pray for another function.

Mzee Byanyima is the father to Dr Besigye’s wife, Winnie Byanyima while President Museveni spent part of his childhood years at Mzee Byanyima’s home in Ruti Mbarara.

It is also alleged that President Museveni had an intimate affair with Winnie Byanyima before they broke up and later, Dr Besigye marrying the Oxfam Executive Director.

It is not common for Dr Besigye and President Museveni to meet especially at public functions. The last time the two met was at the presidential debate and the visit by Pope Benedict where the two political giants actually shook hands.

Mzee Byanyima will be laid to rest in Ruti, Mbarara on Sunday

It was expected that due to the relations the two leaders have had with Mzee Byanyima, they would meet in Ruti for the burial of the late DP leader on Sunday 21st May 20, 2017.

This won’t be the case since the President has this Saturday arrived in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for the 18th Ordinary Summit of EAC Heads of State.

Mr Museveni had already alluded to the fact that he wouldn’t attend the burial of his childhood caretaker, saying that he would have loved to eulogize the fallen leader in Mbarara.

Mr Museveni made the remarks at the vigil at one of Mzee Byanyima’s sons in Muyenga on Thursday evening.

Mr Museveni is already in Tanzania and he was received at Julius Nyerere International Airport by Prof Sospester Muhongo, the Tanzania Minister for Energy.

The summit will among others discuss the EU-EAC Partnership Agreement, sustainable mechanism for financing the Community, the EAC political federation and progress report on admission of Somalia to the Community.

Other issues are; report on modalities of promoting a motor vehicle assembly plant in the region and review on phasing out importation of used textiles and footwear. There will be signing of instruments of appointment of a deputy SG from Tanzania and EACJ judge from South Sudan.

President Museveni is also expected to assume the chair of the Community from H.E. John Pombe Magufuli later today.
