It was always going to be a tough one for Jinja SS as they faced eight-time Copa Coca-Cola tournament champions St Mary’s Kitende.
As expected the teams that made it to the finals had a tense 90 minutes which ended in a 1:1 stalemate.
Jinja SS was the first to score after the break before Kitende scored a late controversial goal that many believe was scored in an offside position.
Following the normal time, the game went into extra time but no side could find the net for a winning goal.
Subsequently, the teams forwarded their best penalty takers and the rest was determined after just ten kicks as Jinja SS defeated St Mary’s Kitende 4-3 in the shootout at the Masaka Recreation Grounds.
This year’s schools cup is historic having drawn teams from all regions in the country including Karamoja and Sebei that participated for the first time.
Congratulations to Jinja SS upon winning the Copa Coca Cola Schools title.
