At about 2:20pm, the plane carrying Ivan Semwanga’s remains touched down at Entebbe International Airport.
Sources indicate that Semwanga’s body was flown to Uganda at zero cost as a condolence since Ivan was a regular customer of South African Airways.
The body of the Rich Gang boss Semwanga was received by relatives, socialites and musicians including Jose Chameleon and SK Mbuga who praised Ivan as a friend and a unifying person.
Female relatives and friends wailed as Ivan’s remains were wheeled from the plane. Some of them hugged the casket as they called out Ivan’s name.
Meanwhile all sorts of posh cars among them SK Mbuga’s Hummer pickups were parked at Entebbe waiting to escort Semwanga’s body to his home in Muyenga.
A few moments later, the posh rides snaked out of the airport premises causing heavy traffic all the way from Entebbe to Mengo where Ivan’s body was first taken for treatment.
Residents poured on the streets to have a glimpse of the posh vehicles that formed long convoy that one could easily mistake for a presidential motorcade.
Semwanga’s body was driven in a black A-Plus Mercedes-Benz hearse with a police van ahead of the convoy to ease on the heavy traffic.
The Rich Gang boss’ body was later driven to Ivan’s home in Muyenga ahead of the burial on Tuesday in Kayunga district.
Zari survives beating
After reaching Ivan’s home in Muyenga, there was another huge crowd comprised of family members, friends and general members of the public.
It however appeared that some of Ivan’s relatives were not happy to see Zari Hussein, the mother of Semwanga’s three sons.
As the relatives and friends commiserated with Zari, others had bitter motives and one woman swung a slap in the face of Zari who broke up with Semwanga some time back before hooking up with Tanzanian music star Diamond Platinumz.
Police was however on the lookout and they shielded Zari before shoving Ivan’s angry relatives away.
