Buganda Road court has today halted the hearing of Dr Stella Nyanzi’s case in which she is facing two charges of cyber crime and offensive communication against President Museveni.

This comes at the backdrop of Dr Nyanzi running to the constitutional court to challenge the constitutionality

Of being mentally examined by the State.

The Makerere University research fellow who looked very happy and refreshed compared to the last time she appeared kept smiling as she shared thoughts with one of her lawyers Isaac Ssermakade.

In the petition before the constitutional court, Dr Nyanzi better known for her ‘creative’ social media writtins, is also seeking a temporary injunction restraining the State and all its agents from enforcing sections 1,2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the 1938 Mental Treatment Act pending the hearing of the main petition.

Chief Magistrate James Eremye subsequently granted Dr Nyanzi’s wish and subsequently set June 7th for the hearing of Dr Nyanzi’s application.

Prior to today’s court session, Dr Nyanzi had expressed fear, saying that the regime could throw her back into jail.

She posted on her Facebook wall that she had said goodbyes to her children and was ready for jail again.
